Navan-Vars United Church was established on September 10, 1926, built and operated by faithful members of the Navan and Vars communities then and ever since.

All are welcome to attend our worship services, and community events.

Worship, Music, Sunday School

Our weekly worship service is held Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. in a fully accessible space and participate in our services online livestreamed on Facebook. Special additional services take place on Christmas Eve and Good Friday.

Volunteer ushers will warmly greet you as you arrive, and no special dress is required to attend. All members of your family will be welcomed by our church family (volunteers) and our minister.

Our worship service is usually an hour in length, and includes prayers, scripture, announcements, a sermon, and music. We welcome kids - a Sunday School program is available for children ages 3-12, in our basement for part of the service, and activities/resources are available for little ones at the back of the sanctuary.

A freewill offering is taken up as part of the service, and attendees are invited to give what they can in support of the church at that time, or later via etransfer or cheque if they wish.

A coffee and fellowship time takes place after the service, and attendees are encouraged to join in to meet and chat with others.

Our choir and music director lead us in the singing of hymns, songs, and special music during the worship service. If you like to sing, or play and instrument, speak to our music director about offering your gifts and talents – making a joyful noise is what we’re all about.

Our Building and Facilities

As custodians and a community of faith, Navan-Vars United Church has made significant efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability and climate efficiency of our building.

With the support of grants from the Church Extension Committee, the Vision and Transformation Fund of the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council (EOORC) of the United Church of Canada (https://eoorc.ca/resources/funding-sources), and the Faithful Footprints “Greening Sacred Spaces” program (https://united-church.ca/leadership/church-administration/local-administration/faithful-footprints), donations and support from various local suppliers and our own faith community, we have been able to upgrade our facility in the following manner:

  • Renovated kitchen - Redesign with a new refrigerator, cabinets, counters, dishwasher, flooring, lighting, updated plumbing

  • Renovated basement hall intended for both church and community use

  • New furnace

  • Air conditioning installation

  • Installation of new ceiling fans

  • Audio-visual and sound system upgrades to permit livestreaming capacity from the sanctuary

  • Elevator upgrade to ensure accessibility to all church facilities (sanctuary and basement hall)
